All participants may have additional performance opportunities, including chorus participation in Den Nye Opera's production of Verdi's La Traviata, as well as the final Grand Concert. Bergenhus Fortress is located next to Bryggen in Bergen, and is a distinguished landmark for those who arrive in Bergen by sea. Today the fortress complex serves as a venue for representation events, operatic and theatre performances, large-scale rock concerts and other cultural events. The Grieg Academy comprises both artistic and scientific disciplines, and offers courses of study in Performance, Composition, Music Pedagogy, Music Therapy, Ethnomusicology and Musicology. The Grieg Hall (Norwegian: Grieghallen) is a 1,500 seat concert hall in Bergen, Norway. It has been the home of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra since the hall's completion in 1978. It hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986, and is the host of the annual Norwegian Brass Band Championship competition, which occurs in mid-winter. The hall is named after Bergen-born composer Edvard Grieg, who was music director of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra from 1880 until 1882. www.grieghallen.no
Troldhaugen consists of the Edvard Grieg Museum, Grieg's villa, the hut where he composed music, and his gravesite. It also includes Troldsalen, a concert hall with seating for 200 visitors, which is the centre for Troldhougen's extensive concert activity.
